What to Expect

What Happens in the First Session
Your first session is about building trust and getting to know each other. Jeremy will ask what's brought you to therapy, listen to your situation and goals, and learn a bit about your background. It's a two-way conversation — ask him anything about his approach or experience. You'll also get a sense of whether he's the right fit, and leave with a clearer idea of how you might work together.

What to Bring
Just bring yourself and an open mind — no preparation required. Jotting down what you'd like to discuss can help, especially for the first session, but isn't necessary. For later sessions, note anything that's come up or any skills you've been practicing. Couples should come ready to engage openly and honestly. No paperwork needed, unless you have relevant medical reports to share. Above all, come as honestly as you can — uncertainty and ambivalence are welcome too.

Confidentiality
Everything discussed is confidential, protected by law and professional ethics. Jeremy won't share anything without your written consent, except in rare cases (risk of serious harm, mandatory child-abuse reporting, or a court order) which he'll discuss with you first wherever possible. In couples therapy, confidentiality covers both partners. If you're using private health insurance or an EAP, minimal information may be shared for billing only. You can raise questions about confidentiality anytime.
